Concept study — not client work

F&B Development
A structured test of whether, where and when to expand — and whether the current operation is ready to be copied at all.
A second site does not add a second business; it divides the attention of the people who made the first one work. Readiness is what decides whether that division is survivable.
Expansion multiplies whatever the business already is, including its problems. The study begins with readiness — whether standards, recipes, training, purchasing and reporting are documented well enough to be transferred — and only then moves to location, format, investment and timing.
It covers site criteria, catchment comparison, format options including smaller or delivery-led models, the investment and payback profile, the management structure a second site requires, and the sequence that protects the original venue while the new one stabilises.
The first question is never where. It is whether the business is documented well enough that a second site can be run by people who did not build the first one.
Documentation, standards and management depth assessed.
Formats and catchments compared on the same criteria.
Investment, payback and management cost.
What has to be true before each step is taken.
Only if the catchment is. Copying a format into a different catchment is one of the most common and most expensive expansion errors.
Readiness for franchising is assessed, but the legal and commercial structuring of a franchise sits outside this study.
